Check the start date of validity when purchasing a motorway vignette
National Motorway Company urges drivers always to check the validity date when purchasing a motorway vignette. If a motorist drives outside the validity period of a motorway vignette, they risk a fine.
Recently, NDS has recorded several cases in which a motorist purchased a motorway vignette with a deferred validity start date but began using tolled sections immediately. NDS therefore stresses that entry onto tolled sections is permitted only with a valid motorway vignette; otherwise, the motorist risks a fine.
When buying a motorway vignette from unofficial sellers, motorists should be doubly vigilant. The validity period may often differ from the one selected by the customer. NDS therefore recommends using official sales channels only: www.eznamka.sk, the eznamka app or official points of sale.
National Motorway Company provides a service that notifies customers of the approaching expiry of their motorway vignette. To use it, the customer must enter at least one contact detail when paying (an email address or telephone number in the correct format). The notification is normally sent three days before expiry.
