Nearly 1.4 million motorway vignettes sold in the first quarter
Among foreign motorists, 10-day and 1-day motorway vignettes were the most popular, while domestic motorists purchased 365-day vignettes most often, followed by 10-day e-vignettes. After Slovak motorists, the greatest interest in Slovak motorway vignettes came from Czech, Polish, Hungarian and German motorists. The information and sales point at the Jarovce border crossing remains the most visited sales location, with almost 30,000 motorway vignettes sold.
“As many as 80% of motorway vignettes were sold through the website www.eznamka.sk or the eZnamka app,” said Peter Braška, Director of Tolling and IT at NDS.
NDS took over the sales system in January 2024. Since then, it has introduced many new features, including payment options via Apple Pay and Google Pay. It also redesigned the website, added a 1-day motorway vignette to its portfolio, and most recently made it possible to purchase a motorway vignette at main post offices in regional capitals.
NDS also continues to warn motorists that the only official website for buying motorway vignettes is www.eznamka.sk. Other portals often sell motorway vignettes at inflated prices, increasing the cost by several tens of euros. Customers also provide their data to an unknown recipient. Buying through intermediary websites may also complicate any subsequent complaints process.
